What is ClearCorrect®?

ClearCorrect uses removable aligners made of plastic to improve the position of your teeth and jaw. The aligners are transparent and fit snugly over your teeth, so they blend in whenever you open your mouth to speak or laugh. 

What types of alignment problems can ClearCorrect treat?

At Chesterfield Dentistry, the team uses ClearCorrect to treat various alignment problems, including:

What does ClearCorrect treatment involve?

Before prescribing ClearCorrect, your Chesterfield Dentistry provider reviews your dental records, asks about your goals, and performs an oral exam. They also take a series of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans to assess the alignment of your teeth and jaw.

If your provider determines that you qualify, they take digital impressions of your mouth with an iTero® intraoral scanner. Then, they upload your scans to a computer program that helps them create a custom orthodontic treatment plan. 

After mapping out the movements of your teeth and jaw, your Chesterfield Dentistry provider sends the plan to a nearby ClearCorrect lab. Technicians at the lab evaluate your provider’s instructions and use them to design and create a custom set of ClearCorrect aligners.

When the lab finishes the aligners, you return to Chesterfield Dentistry and try them on. Your provider makes adjustments, ensuring a perfect fit, and explains how to care for them.

Once you receive the aligners, wear them for at least 22 hours a day, only removing them to eat or brush and floss. 

How long does orthodontic treatment with ClearCorrect take?

Treatment with ClearCorrect typically takes 12-18 months*, but it may take longer. That’s especially true if you don’t wear your aligners as prescribed or skip routine checkups. 

Once you achieve your desired results, you transition to an orthodontic retainer. After you finish wearing the retainer, your Chesterfield Dentistry provider can recommend final aesthetic enhancements, like teeth whitening or veneers.

Do I need to clean my aligners?

ClearCorrect aligners collect food particles and plaque, so it’s vital to keep them clean. The team at Chesterfield Dentistry recommends rinsing your aligners in cool water after meals and snacks and brushing them with a soft-bristle toothbrush before going to bed.
