Similar to Invisalign, Clear Correct is a great alternative to traditional braces if you’re looking to straighten your teeth discreetly. Since it can be removed for eating and brushing your teeth, it’s also far more convenient than traditional metal braces. That said, it is an orthodontic treatment and to ensure that Clear Correct does what it is meant to do, we’ve put together a few hints and tips for you to follow.

Floss like a boss

Not everyone flosses their teeth on a daily basis but when you wear Invisalign it’s crucial to floss each day. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and this isn’t done, it can get trapped inside your aligners and increase your risk of developing dental problems further down the line.

The first 48 hours are critical

Whenever changing over your Clear Correct trays it’s important to wear them for the most time possible during the first 48 hours and only remove them to clean your teeth, remembering to pop them straight back in.

Show your commitment

Sure, it’s great that your aligners can be removed whenever you like, but if you’re not prepared to commit to wearing them for at least 22 hours a day, then you’re unlikely to get the results you were hoping for.

Be on time

If your Chesterfield dentist tells you it’s time to change your aligners, then it’s time. Do it! If she says to leave it in a couple more days, then that’s what you must do. Always change your aligners when directed and change them in the right order. You can’t speed things up by trying to hurry the process along.

Know how to care for your aligners

We recommend you clean your Clear Correct aligners with warm water and antibacterial soap. Don’t be tempted to use toothpaste as this can scratch the trays and create places for germs and bacteria to thrive.

Practice makes perfect

When you first begin your treatment you may notice that you speak with a slight lisp. Rather than taking the tray out, the best way to rid yourself of your lisp is to practice speaking out loud when wearing your tray until you find your speech becomes clearer. Honestly, it shouldn’t take long to get used to it.

No one’s going to notice

Even though Clear Correct is designed to be discreet, many patients are worried that others will notice they have plastic trays over their teeth. This really isn’t the case unless they’re standing close to you, and even so, surely this is better than the alternative of metal braces showing.

Straighten and whiten!

It’s not something we’d even thought of, but patients have told us that using a whitening toothpaste has worked better for them during their Clear Correct treatment than it did before. This has to be because any remnants of the toothpaste are held firmly against the gums when the Aligner is in place whereas saliva would normally have washed it away. So our advice to you is to hold off any whitening treatments until your Clear Correct treatment is complete.

Don’t mess up

Finally, be sure to wear your retainer after your Clear Correct treatment, as and when instructed by your Chesterfield dentist. If you don’t wear it all, you may find your teeth start to revert back to their original position, undoing all of your hard work.

Don’t miss your follow-up appointments and do follow your aftercare instructions. Take all of these points on board and you will get the most out of your Clear Correct treatment.
