Dental Implants 101

Dental implants are small, titanium posts that mimic natural tooth roots. They are embedded into the jawbone and provide a stable base for your replacement teeth to attach to. Depending on your needs, we can create custom-fitted crowns, bridges, or dentures to snap onto your implants and complete your smile!

Benefits of Dental Implants

Wondering if implants are right for you? Here are just some of their many benefits:

  • Implants are one of the only permanent tooth replacement options.
  • The implant stimulates the jawbone and prevents bone loss.
  • The restoration and implant look, feel, and function like your natural teeth.
  • Replacing missing teeth prevents your cheeks and lips from appearing sunken.
  • With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime.

Dental Implant FAQs

What Is Aftercare Like For My New Implants?

After the initial procedure, it’s recommended to brush the implant area with caution for the first couple of weeks as it may be sensitive. Once you’re all healed up, dental implants don’t require any extra care other than maintaining your dentist-recommended oral health regimen of brushing twice a day for two minutes each time and floss at least once per day. We also advise you to attend your biannual dental visits to ensure that your smile is in tip-top shape!

Am I a Good Candidate for Implants?

If you’re missing teeth, you’re most likely a great candidate for implants! For dental implants, patients need to have a healthy jawbone. However, even if you’re experiencing jawbone deterioration, we can complete a bone graft before your implant procedure. To know for sure whether or not implants are right for you, please schedule a consultation at our office.
