Dental bridges offer a lot of benefits for patients. Dental bridges can:
Dental bridges require abutment teeth to remain stable. If a missing tooth is being replaced with a dental bridge, the two teeth that are located on either side of the tooth must be reshaped so that the bridge can fit over them without looking bulky. Local anesthetic is always used to make the reshaping process as comfortable as possible. Then, impressions of the teeth are taken, and the bridge is designed. A temporary bridge is placed in the meantime, and once the permanent bridge arrives from the lab, we will remove the temporary and place the permanent bridge.
None of these restorations are better or worse than the others; they are just used by different patients in different situations. Dental bridges can be a great solution for patients who do not want to undergo oral surgery or are unable to receive dental implants. They are also cost-effective and come with virtually no recovery time. If you aren’t sure which option is right for you, we recommend scheduling a consultation with Dr. Akinwande. She can review your treatment plan, budget, and lifestyle and make a personalized recommendation just for you.
